Former Shelby County Sheriff's Employee Pleads Guilty to Sex Offenses
MEMPHIS, TN – Shelby County District Attorney Bill Gibbons announced Thursday that a former employee of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office pleaded guilty to sexual offenses that involved a child.

Wayne Logan, 61, pleaded guilty to attempted rape, a class C felony, and attempted rape of a child, a class B felony. The judge then sentenced Logan to six and eight years in prison, respectively. The sentences will run concurrently and Logan will receive no probation. Once released from prison, Logan must register for the Tennessee Sexual Offender Registry.

According to the indictment, the sexual offenses occurred between January 1, 2005 and January 8, 2007 and between January 1, 2005 and October 2006.

Logan resigned from the Shelby County Sheriff’s office as a civilian employee in January 2007.

Assistant District Attorneys Robert Carter and Marianne Bell prosecuted this case. Both are assigned to the Child Protection Investigative Team which prosecutes crimes of severe child physical abuse and child sexual abuse.
