Jeffrey Scott Sentenced to Maximum 25 Years for Killing Wife
MEMPHIS, TN – Shelby County District Attorney Bill Gibbons announced Thursday that a judge sentenced a Memphis man to the maximum amount of time in prison for killing his wife on Thanksgiving Day in 2006.

Following a sentencing hearing in which Ashley Scott’s family, friends and co-workers testified about their loss, Judge James Lammey sentenced Jeffrey Scott to 25 years in prison without parole. A jury last month convicted Scott of second degree murder. Ashley Scott, 28, was killed on November 23, 2006. Ms. Scott died after being severely beaten at the couple’s Cordova home.

“Justice has been served in this tragic case, which has increased awareness of the epidemic of domestic violence in our community. I hope this sentence brings some closure to Ms. Scott’s family and friends,” said District Attorney Gibbons.

Assistant District Attorneys Karen Cook, Missy Branham, and Steve Crossnoe prosecuted this case. All three prosecutors are assigned to the D.A.’s Domestic Violence Prosecution Unit.
