Memphis Police Department Burglary investigators developed Buchanan as a suspect during the spate of multiple burglaries and thefts and arrested him on July 20th, 2010.
Upon his arrest, Buchanan, (also known as “Fat-Boy”),
admitted to authorities that he was responsible for burglary of the following locations:
On June 27th 2010 - “Best Wings” 2390 Summer Avenue;
On July 4th, 2010 - “Moe's” 465 South Germantown Parkway;
On July 5th, 2010 - “Baskin Robbins” 1680 Union Avenue;
On July 11th, 2010 - “Baskin Robbins” 6114 Quince Road;
On July 13th, 2010 - “Exline's Pizza” 2935 Austin Peay Highway, “Exline's Pizza” 1560 Union Avenue and “Subway” 1558 Union Avenue;
On July 14th, 2010 - “Exline's Pizza” 2545 Jackson Avenue and “Subway” 709 East Parkway South;
On July 16th, 2010 - “Baskin Robbins” 85 South Highland Street and “All Star Hot Wings” 3111 South Perkins Road;
On July 17th, 2010 - “Qdoba” 2257 North Germantown Parkway, “Whole Hog” 5727 Quince Road and “Subway” 2388 Summer Avenue;
On July 20th, 2010 - “Jr's Fish and Chicken” 3087 South Perkins Road, “Pancho’s” 2841 South Perkins Road, “Dollar General” 3609 James Road and “Starbucks” 5679 Poplar Avenue.
Buchanan also entered guilty pleas to four (4) counts of felony theft over $1000.00 and three (3) counts of theft under $500.00, a class A misdemeanor.
Burglary is a class D felony. Buchanan, a career offender, faces potential sentences of up to twelve (12) years for each count of burglary and the felony theft charge. He faces eleven months, twenty-nine days for the misdemeanor theft count.
Buchanan is scheduled to be sentenced February 24th, 2012 before Honorable Judge James Beasley.
