East Memphis Man convicted of Second Degree Murder, attempted murder, and weapons charges

Shortly after 3:00 am on July 5th, 2010, Farmer intervened in an altercation involving a woman and one of Johnson’s companions at 2663 Mt. Moriah. Terry T. Johnson The confrontation escalated between Farmer and Johnson when one of Johnson’s companions threatened to shoot.  Information at trial revealed that Johnson opened fire on the car occupied by Farmer and his three companions as they were leaving the location.  Farmer, who was a passenger in the car, was fatally wounded, while two others inside the 1995 Lincoln Town Car recovered from gunshot wounds they sustained during the shooting.   
Johnson’s companion, Xavier Cook, (age 23), is scheduled to appear in court on February 28th, 2012 on charges related to the shooting.
 Johnson, age 23, was convicted of second degree murder, three counts of attempted second degree murder and one count of employment of a firearm during commission of a dangerous felony.  Second degree murder is a class A felony which carries a standard sentence range of fifteen (15) to sixty (60) years.  Attempted second degree murder is a class B felony and carries a standard sentence range of eight (8) to (30) years.  Employment of a firearm during commission of a dangerous felony is a class D felony with a sentence range of two (2) to twelve (12) years.
 Johnson is scheduled to be sentenced on March, 2nd, 2012 in Criminal Court Division 6.
