According to the criminal investigation conducted by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), on July 11, 2011, Bishof sexually assaulted a woman while on duty as a detective for the Shelby County Sheriff’s General Investigation Bureau (GIB).  Bishof was arrested and charged on July 28th, 2011.
Bishof, recently retired from the SCSO General Investigation Bureau, is alleged to have sexually assaulted the 22 year-old woman at her home on July 11th, 2011.  Bishof came to her home on the pretense of continuing a pending domestic violence investigation.  Bishof told the woman he needed to take additional photographs of her injuries from the domestic assault as part of the investigation.  While at her home, Bishof asked the woman to disrobe and then he proceeded to sexually assault her and take explicit photographs of her.
Aggravated sexual battery is a class B felony and upon conviction carries a sentence range of eight (8) to thirty (30) years.  Official oppression is a class E felony and upon conviction carries a sentence range of one (1) to six (6) years.
