Andre Bowen, 39, and Anthony Olivo, 37, were indicted on charges of murder in the perpetration of theft and robbery, attempted especially aggravated robbery and being convicted felons in possession of a handgun.
The victim, Susan McDonald of Germantown, was shot in the driveway of a friend shortly after 6 a.m. in the 8400 block of Bazemore Road in Cordova. She and the friend had planned to volunteer at an Overton Park race that morning.
Bowen and Olivo were developed as suspects and were arrested about two weeks later.
Both are being held without bond in the Shelby County Jail.
The case is being handled by Alanda Dwyer, chief prosecutor of the DA’s Special Prosecution Unit (SPU) in Criminal Court Division 7. The SPU seeks maximum sentencing for repeat violent offenders.
