Woman Guilty in Stabbing of Husband

MEMPHIS – March 5, 2016 - A 51-year-old woman was convicted Friday of attempted first-degree murder in the critical stabbing of her husband in 2013, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
Defendant Katherine Taylor’s bond was revoked following the Criminal Court jury’s verdict. She faces up to 25 years in prison with no parole when she is sentenced on April 14 by Judge James Lammey.
Taylor and her husband, Eronest Taylor, were separated and going through a divorce when the incident occurred on Oct. 27, 2013, at his residence in the 4400 block of Cedar Park Drive in the Hickory Ridge area of Southeast Memphis.
She went to the home in violation of court orders to confront her husband and during an argument defendant Taylor pulled a kitchen knife from inside her jacket and stabbed him in the chest.
Eronest Taylor was hospitalized in critical condition, but survived his wound.
The case was handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Marianne Bell of the DA’s Domestic Violence Prosecution Unit which prosecutes felony cases of domestic assault and homicide committed by intimate partners.
The unit also works closely with the Shelby County Family Safety Center to provide services and assistance to victims and their families.
