Suspect in Broad Avenue Burglaries Indicted

MEMPHIS – April 8, 2016 - A man suspected of being a serial burglar of businesses in the Broad Avenue Arts District area last year has been indicted on eight break-ins and one attempted break-in, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich said Friday.
A grand jury this week indicted David White, 35, of Collierville, on eight counts of burglary of a building, one count of attempted burglary of a building, and one count of theft over $1,000.
The burglaries occurred between Nov. 3 and Dec. 2 last year at businesses in a several-block area of Broad, North Hollywood and Summer.
The businesses included a bicycle shop, a lighting store, a photography shop, an auto repair shop, a barber and beauty shop, a dance studio and a realty company.
Investigators said the intruder typically gained entry by using large rocks to break out windows.
Taken in the burglaries were televisions, tools, computers and other items.
White was arrested on Dec. 8 and is being held on $35,000 bond.
