Man Convicted in Set-up Aggravated Robbery

MEMPHIS – April 11, 2016 - A 25-year-old man has been convicted in the aggravated robbery of a man who was set up by the defendant’s female accomplice, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
Defendant Kerry Granderson faces 8 to 12 years in prison when he is sentenced May 16 by Criminal Court Judge John Campbell.
Granderson is being held in the Shelby County Jail.
The incident occurred on Jan. 10, 2015, when a 16-year-old girl asked the victim to bring her $20 for food for herself and her baby. When the victim, 21, arrived at the residence in the 4500 block of Addington Drive in the Frayser area, Granderson pulled a pistol and robbed him of $20.Granderson then ordered the young woman to retrieve an additional $300 the victim said he had in his car.
He and the woman were identified and arrested about a week later. She pled guilty to aggravated robbery in Juvenile Court and was placed under the supervision of Department of Children’s Services.
The trial last week was handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Bridgett Stigger.
