MEMPHIS – May 25, 2016 - A South Memphis teen has been indicted on first-degree felony murder charges in connection with the shotgun slaying of a 31-year-old man last November, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich said Wednesday.
Mayaius Williams, 18, is being held in the Shelby County Jail.
A Shelby County Grand Jury indicted him Tuesday on first-degree murder in the perpetration of a theft in the shooting death of James K. Owens on Nov. 2 in a house in the 1600 block of Barton near South Parkway and South Third.
Investigators said Williams went inside the home to take a gun that he could sell, and that he shot Owens in the chest before leaving.
The case is being handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Alanda Dwyer.
