Man Convicted in Stun-Gun Abduction, Rape of Ex-Girlfriend

MEMPHIS – November 11, 2016 - A Memphis man has been convicted of aggravated rape and aggravated kidnapping in a 2012 incident in which his former girlfriend was shocked with a stun gun, abducted and taken to an apartment and raped, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich said Friday.
Defendant Andre Brown, 24, remains in custody and faces up to 37 years in prison when he is sentenced next month by Criminal Court Judge James Beasley Jr.
The incident occurred the morning of Aug. 13, 2012, when Brown went to the 19-year-old woman’s home in Southaven, Miss., shocked her with a stun gun and forced her into his car. He drove her to his brother’s residence in the Warren Apartments on Clementine near Elvis Presley Boulevard and I-240 and then cut her pants off with a box cutter and raped her. Brown then shocked her again with the stun gun and forced her to perform oral sex on him.
The victim was held captive for several more hours, but was able to escape when Brown left the apartment. He was arrested about five weeks later. The case was handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Kenya Smith.
