December 15th, 2011 - Shelby County District Attorney Amy Weirich announced that Stacy Hopkins was indicted by a Shelby County Grand Jury for three counts of statutory rape by an authority figure and two counts of soliciting sexual exploitation of a minor by electronic means.
Stacy Hopkins, age 28, was arrested by Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Investigators after they determined she transmitted nude, sexually explicit images of herself to underage students. The investigation further revealed that Hopkins, while employed as a teacher at Arlington High School, engaged in sexual intercourse with three underage Arlington High School students at various times in the course of a year.
Under Tennessee law, statutory rape by an authority figure is a Class C felony. Upon conviction carries a sentence of 3-15 years imprisonment, with no eligibility for probation. Soliciting sexual exploitation of a minor by electronic means is a Class E felony and carries a 1-6 year sentence upon conviction.
