Whitehaven Man Indicted in Death of Neighbor’s Dog

May 25, 2017 – A Whitehaven man was indicted Thursday on felony charges of aggravated cruelty to animals and intentional killing of an animal for allegedly shooting his neighbor’s dog, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich said Thursday.
Tyrone Davis, 46, of the 200 block of Burwood Drive, is free on $5,000 bond.
Investigators said Davis walked to a neighbor’s fenced-in backyard on Sunday Oct. 18, 2015, on Neely Road and fired a black handgun one time, striking the neighbor’s black Lab/pitbull mix. The owner came outside after hearing the shot and saw his dog bleeding from the gunshot wound and trying to crawl to him. The dog was taken to a veterinary hospital where it died the next morning.
Davis was developed as a suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest four days later.
