Man Guilty of Killing Woman With Gunshot Through a Wall

July 14, 2017 – A 45-year-old man was convicted Thursday of voluntary manslaughter and other crimes in a case involving a woman who was killed by a gunshot meant for someone else that came through a wall and struck her in the head while she was holding a baby, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
Defendant Johnny Jenkins also was convicted of attempted voluntary manslaughter and two counts of employment of a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony. He will be sentenced next month by Criminal Court Judge Glenn Wright.
Felisha Pittman, 37, was killed during a late-night party on Dec. 26, 2014, at an apartment in the 2800 block of Kimball near Lamar.
She was in a den area while Jenkins and another woman were arguing in the nearby kitchen. As the argument became more heated, Jenkins pulled a 9mm pistol and fired one time, missing the woman.
The bullet, however, went through a wall and into the next room where it struck and killed Pittman. The baby was not injured.
The case was handled by Asst. Dist. Attys. Lora Fowler and Muriel Malone.
