Woman Motorist Indicted in Assault on Officer

Oct. 10, 2017 – A Whitehaven woman was indicted Tuesday on aggravated assault charges for allegedly striking a police officer with her vehicle as he tried to clear the Oak Court Mall area last December during a flash mob disturbance, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
Investigators said Vunchatta Holcomb, 33, was parked outside the mall on Dec. 26 during the large-scale disturbance and officers were trying to clear the area. Holcomb was ordered to leave the area, but repeatedly refused to do so.
When an officer approached her car and opened the driver’s door, Holcomb attempted to drive off, causing the door to strike and bruise the 31-year-old officer’s right knee while also putting him in fear of being run over, an investigation showed.
