Oct. 17, 2017 – A Raleigh man was indicted Tuesday on first-degree murder charges in the drive-by shooting death of a 17-year-old youth who was in a car with four other people, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
Terrence Cooper Jr., 21, also was indicted on four counts of attempted first-degree murder stemming from the shooting that occurred the afternoon of April 6 this year at Hickory Hill Road and Valleydale Road.
Investigators said the victim, Thomas Wilson, was in the backseat of one vehicle when another pulled up and an occupant, identified as Cooper, opened fire.
Wilson was struck in the back of the head and was pronounced dead a short time later at St. Francis Hospital.
The case is being handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Glen Baity.
