April 4, 2018 – Four people have been indicted for their roles in the robbery and murder last year of a 65-year-old Frayser man in his home, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich said Wednesday.
A grand jury indicted Matthew Jones, 32, John Rork, 21, Brittney Hunt, 23, and Heather Smith-Aquino, 32, on charges of first-degree felony murder, especially aggravated robbery involving serious bodily injury and a deadly weapon, and aggravated burglary-acting in concert.
All are being held without bond.
On Sept. 14, 2017, police made a well-being check at the home of Roger Brewer in the 1500 block of Roosevelt Ave. and found him dead in the bedroom from multiple stab wounds.
The defendants were developed as suspects and were arrested that same day, including Jones who was a roommate of the victim.
The case is being handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Kirby May, chief prosecutor of the DA’s Community Prosecution Unit in Criminal Court Div. 6 which handles all felony cases out of the Frayser area’s Old Allen Police Precinct.
