Deputy Indicted on Rape Charges

Beck Beck
June 21, 2018 – A Shelby County Sheriff’s deputy has been indicted on rape charges stemming from incidents involving a teenage girl that allegedly occurred over a 20-month period beginning in May of 2016, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich said Thursday.
Brian O. Beck, 43, of Germantown, will be arraigned today before Judge Lee Coffee in Criminal Court Division 7. He is being held on bond of $125,000.
A grand jury indicted Beck on two counts of rape by force or coercion and two counts of sexual battery by an authority figure.
Investigators said the sexual activity began around May 1, 2016, when the victim was 14 years old and continued until around Jan. 1, 2018. Beck was not on duty when the alleged incidents occurred.
Beck joined the sheriff’s department in 2004. He has been relieved of duty without pay.
The case is being handled by Chief Prosecutor Eric Christensen and Asst. Dist. Atty. Dru Carpenter, both of the DA’s Special Victims Unit (SVU) which prosecutes cases of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse of child victims; rape and aggravated rape of adult victims, and abuse of elderly and vulnerable adults.
SVU reviews child-victim cases with Shelby County’s multi-agency Child Protection Investigative Team.
