Gilchrease Gilchrease
July 13, 2018 – A 24-year-old woman was indicted Thursday on first-degree murder charges related to the shooting death last year of a male acquaintance in his South Memphis home, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
Defendant Victericka Gilchrease also was indicted on two counts of aggravated assault for allegedly threatening two women witnesses with her gun. She is being held without bond.
The victim, Dana Perkins, 45, died of a gunshot wound to the stomach last Nov. 6 at his home in the 900 block of Kerr.
Witnesses said the shooting followed an argument in which Gilchrease became angry, pulled a gun and threatened the two female witnesses while firing a warning shot. The victim, Perkins, grabbed the gun from her, unloaded it and gave it back to her, ordering her to leave.
Gilchrease got the gun back, reloaded the weapon and fired at Perkins, striking him once in the stomach. He was taken to a hospital where he died.
The case is being handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Paul Goodman.
