Jailer Indicted on Rape Charge in Spa Incident

July 16, 2018 – A Shelby County deputy jailer has been indicted on rape charges stemming from an alleged incident involving his second job as a masseuse at a Cordova health spa, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich said Monday.
A grand jury also indicted Ryan Davis, 34, on a charge of sexual battery. He is free on bond of $100,000. He was suspended with pay as a deputy jailer in December.
A 19-year-old female customer at Serenity Day Spa told investigators that while Davis was giving her a massage he penetrated her with his fingers without her consent. She said he also made lewd, unwanted comments.
He was fired by the spa after the woman complained about Davis’s alleged behavior.
The case is being handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Lessie Rainey with the DA’s Special Victims Unit which prosecutes cases of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse of child victims; rape and aggravated rape of adult victims, and abuse of elderly and vulnerable adults.
