Repeat Sex Offender Sentenced to 52 Years in Prison

Aug. 23, 2018 – A 42-year-old man was sentenced Thursday to 52 years in prison without the possibility of parole for his conviction of sexually assaulting a young girl several years ago, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.

He was sentenced Thursday by Judge Jennifer Nichols.
Roby had two prior sex-related convictions involving young girls and is on the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry and is on Community Supervision for life.
He also has a pending aggravated sexual battery case, also involving a young victim.
The case was handled by Asst. Dist. Attys. Devon Lepeard and Sarah Poe of the District Attorney’s Special Victims Unit which prosecutes cases of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse of child victims; rape and aggravated rape of adult victims, and abuse of elderly and vulnerable adults.
