Man Indicted in Shooting Death of His Father

Sept. 25, 2018 – A 25-year-old man was indicted Tuesday on second-degree murder charges stemming from the shooting death of his father during an argument last year, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
Defendant Jatarius Crump also was indicted on charges of attempted second-degree murder for wounding a woman, three counts of aggravated assault and employment of a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony.
He is being held on bond of $200,000.
The shooting occurred on Dec. 10, 2017, at a home in the 3200 block of Allison near North Holmes where an argument broke out between Crump and his father, Jimmy Walker, 43. Investigators said Crump went to his truck to retrieve a pistol and began firing into the house, striking Walker in the chest and wounding a woman in the neck.
Three other people were in the house, but escaped injury.
