Gunman Pleads Guilty in Frayser Murder Case

Oct. 31, 2018 – A 24-year-old man has pled guilty to second-degree murder in the shooting death of an acquaintance in an apartment complex in Frayser, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich said Wednesday.
Damion Ray was sentenced to 15 years in prison without the possibility for parole after entering his plea Monday before Criminal Court Judge W. Mark Ward.
He admitted shooting Dammion Farmer, 25, who was walking through the Pleasant View Apartments complex shortly before 6 p.m. on Jan. 25, 2016 in the 1600 block of Rainey Drive. Farmer was taken to a hospital where he died about 90 minutes later.
Witnesses said Ray jumped out of a car and began shooting at Farmer, then fled the scene.
The case was handled by Asst. Dist. Attys. Tracye Jones and Holly Palmer.
