Two Convicted in Attempted Murder Case

Nov. 2, 2018 – A jury Friday convicted two men of attempted second-degree murder for shooting a motorist in the shoulder and striking his car with gunfire nine times as he drove off to escape the attack, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
Defendants Quintavious Hill, 20, and Vintario Tate, 26, was were convicted of aggravated assault and employing firearms in the commission of a dangerous felony. They will be sentenced Dec. 6 by Criminal Court Judge James Lammey Jr.
The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Oct. 23, 2016, near an apartment complex on Kimball near Lamar.
Investigators said the 20-year-old male victim was seated in his vehicle when two men armed with guns walked up and said, “Don’t move.” As the men tried to open his car door, the victim drove away. The gunmen opened fire, grazing the driver on the right shoulder and filling his car with bullet holes.
He drove to a police precinct to report the incident and later identified Hill and Tate in a photo spread as his assailants. A witness to the shooting also identified the defendants.
