Man Convicted in Robbery Case on Graham

Nov. 5, 2018 – A 52-year-old man has been convicted Friday of robbery for stealing a woman’s car at gunpoint as she and her 7-year-old daughter were leaving their North Graham apartment, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich said Monday.
Shaughn Walker remains in custody and will be sentenced later by Criminal Court Judge Bobby Carter.
The incident occurred around 6 a.m. on Sept. 17, 2016, in the 1700 block of North Graham near Berkshire as the woman was preparing to drive away. She said a man pointed a gun at her and said something that she did not understand.
The woman told her young daughter to exit the car and run, and then ran away herself. The gunman drove away in her car, which contained her cell phone, but crashed he crashed the car into a fire hydrant at short distance away.
Police captured Walker about two hours later at a service station on Walls Station Road where employees had identified him as the man who had created a disturbance earlier that morning.
The trial this week was handled by Asst. Dist. Attys. Alyssa Hennig and Scott Smith.
