Three Indicted in Murder, Robbery

Feb. 15, 2019 – Three men have been indicted on first-degree felony murder charges in the shooting and attempted robbery of several victims last year on Spottswood near Greer, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
Police found 25-year-old Michael Battle dead of a gunshot wound to the chest at 8:45 p.m. on March 20, 2018, on the porch of a residence in the 3200 block of Spottswood. Two other victims were uninjured.
An investigation resulted in the arrests of defendants Nathaniel Campbell Jr., 20, and Chrishun Carter and Kendall Everheart, both 21.
All are charged with first-degree murder in the perpetration of a robbery, attempted especially aggravated robbery, and two counts of attempted aggravated robbery.
Investigators said the defendants believed Battle had a large sum of money and that they planned to rob him and the other two victims as they sat in a car in the 3200 block of Southern.
Battle had no money or wallet when he was found a short time later on nearby Spottswood, just north of where he was shot.
The case is being handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Lora Fowler.
