Man Sentenced to 8 Years for Aggravated Robbery

Sept. 9, 2019 – A 21-year-old man has pled guilty to criminal charges for the beating and robbery of another man two years ago, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
Defendant Mica Wilson, who also goes by Mica Ferguson, was sentenced to eight years in prison on the aggravated robbery guilty plea before Criminal Court Judge Glenn Wright.
The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 15, 2017, while the 22-year-old victim was walking home from a store in the 4700 block of Summer Avenue. Wilson and a juvenile accomplice pulled up in a vehicle, threatened to shoot the victim with a shotgun and then exited the vehicle and began beating and kicking him.
The assailants, who knew the victim, then took the victim’s mobile phone and $10 in cash.
The juvenile defendant was handled in Juvenile Court.
The case was handled by Asst. Dist. Attys. Jimmy Thomas and Will Cranford of the DA’s Vertical Team 2 which handles cases from General Sessions Division 9 (Mental Health Court) and Criminal Court Division 2.
