The rally for the Every DAy in School program (formerly known as the DA’s Truancy Reduction Mentoring Program) will have the Memphis Grizzlies as its newest partner this year. Team mascot Grizz, in-arena emcee BJ and the Grizzline drummers will be at the rally which begins at 9 a.m. at Hawkins Mill at 4295 Mountain Terrace.
Last year 321 students received free bikes and helmets for perfect attendance and no tardy days for the entire school year.
“There is nothing more important than getting a good education, and that starts with being in school every day and ready to learn,” said Gen. Weirich. “We have some wonderful sponsors and volunteers who make this program work. It’s gotten bigger and better every year.”
Friday’s rally also will include Memphis Police Department officers with the Community Outreach Program (C.O.P.), the department’s 12-foot-tall inflatable Sgt. BIGGS, and sponsors the Memphis Hightailers Bicycle Club, and Tommy James, owner of All About Bikes.
