Man Indicted in Homicide of Step-Father

Oct. 3, 2019 – A southeast Memphis man has been indicted on second-degree murder charges related to the shooting death last year of his step-father during an argument, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
Defendant Donavan Kilgore-Russell, 20, turned himself in to police soon after the shooting.
Investigators said he shot and killed his step-father, Ronnie Ball, 54, who had intervened in an argument between the defendant and his mother. The shooting occurred on Nov. 23, 2018, at their residence in the 4400 block of Ashridge Cove near Hickory Hill Road and East Shelby Drive.
The case is being handled by Senior Felony Asst. Alexia Crump of the DA’s Vertical Team 6 which handles cases in General Sessions 15 and Criminal Court 10.
