Hickory Hill Man Convicted in Rape Case

Jan. 24, 2020 – A Hickory Hill-area man has been convicted of aggravated rape involving an early-morning assault on a relative at a home in southeast Memphis, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
A Criminal Court jury convicted defendant Damion McGlown as charged following a two-day trial this week. He is being held in the Shelby County Jail and will be sentenced Feb. 21 by Judge Glenn Wright.
McGlown, 42, on Nov. 8, 2016, at a residence on Flowering Peach Drive after a 20-year-old woman there told police she was sleeping on a couch when she awakened around 3:30 a.m. to find McGlown sexually assaulting her.
Police were notified and arrested McGlown at the scene several hours later.
The case was handled by Asst. Dist. Attys. Lessie Rainey and Cavett Ostner of the District Attorney’s Special Victims Unit (SVU) which prosecutes cases of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse of child victims; rape and aggravated rape of adult victims, and abuse of elderly and vulnerable adults.
