Memphis Man Convicted of Rape of an Elderly Woman

Denton was convicted of the crimes on April 5th, 2012.
The incident occurred on November 8, 2010. Denton, now age 33, broke into the woman’s home in the 2000 block of Swift in South Memphis. He threw the victim to the floor, took her clothes off and sexually assaulted her for more than an hour. He fell asleep and the woman was able to get to her cell phone and called police. Denton was still disrobed and asleep on the scene when Memphis Police Department officers arrived and arrested him.
Denton was sentenced to fifteen (15) years for aggravated burglary, fifteen (15) years for aggravated adult abuse and sixty 60 years, with no parole, for aggravated rape of the elderly victim.
Jennifer Nichols, Chief Prosecutor and Assistant District Attorney Eric Christensen of the District Attorney General’s Special Victims Unit prosecuted the case before Judge Chris Craft.
