Teen Indicted on First-Degree Murder Charge

MEMPHIS, TN – December 13, 2013 - A 15-year-old youth has been indicted on first-degree murder and other charges stemming from a May shooting in the Raleigh area involving a gang dispute, Shelby County District Attorney Amy Weirich said.
Delavunte Moody is accused of killing 18-year-old Jabriel Coleman the night of May 10 in the 3400 block of Bradcrest Drive near New Allen and Egypt Central roads.
Investigators said Moody fired at least five shots at several fleeing teens.
Moody’s case was transferred to Criminal Court following a Juvenile Court hearing in June.
He also is charged with four counts of attempted first-degree murder and with employing a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Moody is being held on $500,000 bond.
The case is being handled by assistant district attorney Tracye Jones of the Multi-Agency Gang Unit Prosecution Team (MGU).
The MGU prosecution team consists of Assistant United States Attorneys from the Western District and Assistant District Attorneys from the Shelby County District Attorney’s Gang and Narcotics Prosecution Unit.
