District Attorney General Amy Weirich, the Harlem Globetrotters and Hickory Ridge Elementary School announce that the Anti-Bullying event has been rescheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 1:30 pm.
Join the fun at Hickory Ridge Elementary School (3980 Hickory Hill Road) at 1:30 pm where the Globetrotters' Buckets Blakes will present the “ABCs” of Bullying Prevention: Action, Bravery and Compassion.
The event (open to kids ages 6-12) will also give children important and fun lessons to promote school attendance, reduce gang involvement and make good life choices.
The Shelby County District Attorney General's Office and the Harlem Globetrotters are partners in the "National Campaign to Stop Violence" and the "Do The Write Thing Challenge."
The annual "Do The Write Thing Challenge" gives middle school students across the country an opportunity to write essays to discuss the impact of youth violence on their lives and to offer solutions to change the culture of violence. Panelists review the essays and choose the local “Do The Write Thing Challenge” finalists. The finalists then represent Memphis and Shelby County at the national “Do The Write Thing Challenge” in Washington, DC.
The Harlem Globetrotters Night at the Fedex Forum is Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets start at $22 and are available at harlemglobetrotters.com.
