Roofing Contractor Pleads Guilty to Home Improvement Contractor Fraud

MEMPHIS – June 19, 2014 - A roofing contractor pleaded guilty to three counts of home contractor fraud, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
Christopher Isaia, 43, pleaded guilty as charged today in Criminal Court Division 3.
The Shelby County Sheriff's Office and Memphis Police Department investigations revealed that Isaia (d/b/a Tennessee Roofing Professionals at 1926 Chelsea) defrauded multiple victims in Memphis and Shelby County beginning in 2010.
Isaia was arrested in August 2011 and charged with 16 counts of fraud. Isaia waived trial in General Sessions and his case was sent to a Shelby County Grand Jury.
Isaia was indicted and faced a trial in July on multiple counts of home contractor fraud totaling over $97,000.00 between December 2010 and December 2011.
In his plea entered before Judge Bobby Carter, Isaia plead guilty as charged and agreed to three separate sentences of 2 years for each count. The judge suspended the sentences and allowed Isaia to serve probation for each count.
The judge also ordered Isaia to pay full restitution to the 24 victims totaling $97,707.26.
The case was handled by assistant district attorney Byron Winsett of the D.A.’s Public Corruption and Economic Crimes (PCEC) prosecution unit.
