MEMPHIS – A 34-year-old man was sentenced to 7.2 years in prison Monday after pleading guilty to aggravated sexual battery on a 2-year-old girl last year, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
Edgar Alarcon must serve his sentence without the possibility of parole, must pay a $2,000 fine, will be placed on the Sex Offender Registry and will be on community supervision for life.
Alarcon also will be deported to his native Mexico when he completes his prison term.
He admitted fondling the young daughter of a couple with whom he had been staying last Oct. 24 near Summer and White Station.
Alarcon was sentenced Monday by Criminal Court Judge John Campbell.
The case was handled by Carrie Shelton, chief prosecutor of the DA’s Special Victims Unit (SVU).
The unit prosecutes cases of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse of child victims; rape and aggravated rape of adult victims, and abuse of elderly and vulnerable adults.
SVU reviews child-victim cases cooperatively with Shelby County’s multi-agency Child Protection Investigative Team.
