Man Indicted in Slaying of Wife in Hickory Hill

MEMPHIS – A Memphis man has been indicted on first-degree murder charges in the February shooting death of his wife in their Hickory Hill-area home, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
Detrick Turner, 35, told investigators that Sharice Turner, 34, was killed when a gun discharged as they were struggling over it.
The gun fired two times, with one shot striking Sharice Turner in the face.
Investigators found no sign of a struggle at the scene.
The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 21 at 3620 Firethorne Dr. near Winchester and Hickory Hill.
Detrick Turner is being held on $300,000 bond.
The case is being handled by the DA’s Domestic Violence Prosecution Unit (DVU) which prosecutes felony cases of domestic assault and homicide committed by intimate partners.
The DVU also works closely with the Shelby County Family Safety Center to provide services and assistance to domestic violence victims and their families.
