MEMPHIS – Jan. 9, 2015 - A man has been convicted of two counts of aggravated robbery stemming from a 2013 holdup of a South Memphis convenience store, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich said Friday.
Eddie Minter, 29, was arrested about 400 yards from the scene shortly after an armed robbery occurred on Nov. 13, 2013, at the Shop & Save store in the 1000 block of South Third.
Police said Minter was hiding in a field at Latham and Lucerne wearing a torn white t-shirt and with the store owner’s wallet and store receipts nearby. The robbery was captured on store video.
The store owner identified Minter as one of two men who robbed the store. The owner was hit in the head with a handgun during a struggle, but he tore Minter’s white t-shirt and pulled his mask down.
The second robber was never arrested or identified.
Minter remains in custody and is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 2 by Criminal Court Judge John Campbell.
The case was handled by assistant district attorney Lessie Rainey.
