Sex Offender Gets 90 Years for Sexually Assaulting Children

MEMPHIS – Aug. 28, 2015 - A convicted sex offender who served 18 years for molesting children was sentenced Friday to 90 years in prison with no parole for sexually assaulting another child, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich said Friday.
Brian Adams, 45, was convicted in July of rape of a child and aggravated sexual battery involving 6-year-old girl.
On Friday Criminal Court Judge John Campbell sentenced Adams to consecutive terms of 60 years for the rape and 30 years for aggravated sexual battery.
The incidents occurred during the summer months of 2012 in the 3700 block of Longfellow near Chelsea and Jackson in North Memphis.
Adams, a registered sex offender, was convicted of eight felonies for sexually molesting three other children – ages 4, 5 and 12 - in 1989.
The current case was handled by Asst. Dist. Attys. Abby Wallace and Katie Ratton of the DA’s Special Victims Unit (SVU) which prosecutes cases of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse of child victims; rape and aggravated rape of adult victims, and abuse of elderly and vulnerable adults.
SVU reviews child-victim cases cooperatively with Shelby County’s multi-agency Child Protection Investigative Team.
