On April 8th, 2011, a Shelby County jury found Frederick D. Greene, age 31, guilty in the fatal stabbing of Charles Willingham, Jr.
On Wednesday, February 11, 2009, Charles Willingham, Jr. was dropping his son off at 766 Rosemont. As Willingham was leaving the location, Frederick Greene attacked him, stabbing him and then fleeing the location. Information during the trial indicated that Willingham and Greene had been involved in a verbal altercation months prior to the fatal attack. Memphis Police Department Homicide Investigators investigated and obtained arrest warrant on February 18th. Greene turned himself in to Shelby County Sheriff's Fugitive Division on February 19th, 2009.
Greene was found guilty of first degree murder in the death of Mr. Willingham.
Greene has agreed to a sentence of life without possibility of parole.
Assistant District Attorneys Reggie Henderson and Pam Fleming prosecuted the case.
