MEMPHIS – November 6th, 2015 - An Orange Mound man was sentenced Friday to 20 years in prison for the shooting death of his wife during an argument two years ago, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.William Langston, 46, was sentenced by Criminal Court Judge Bobby Carter after the defendant was convicted of second-degree murder in a jury trial last month.
Second-degree murder allows for no parole, although a sentence can be reduced by up to 15 percent for good behavior while in prison.
Langston was convicted of killing his wife, Kimberly Langston, during an argument on May 24, 2013, at their home in the 600 block of Hamilton.
He told investigators that his wife had armed herself with a knife and that he shot her in the head during the altercation.
The case was handled by Asst. Dist. Attys. Marianne Bell and Danielle McCollum of the DA’s Domestic Violence Prosecution Unit that handles felony cases of domestic assault and homicide committed by intimate partners.
The Unit also works closely with the Shelby County Family Safety Center to provide services and assistance to victims and their families
