Mentors Can Help Shape Young Lives

Much has been said in recent weeks and months about juveniles and crime in Shelby County.
New juvenile facilities. More rehabilitation. Better representation. Fewer transfers to adult court.
Those are all worthy goals, but we can’t lose sight of the many victims of juvenile crime.

Former Teacher Indicted on Sex Charges

Jan.17, 2019 – A former Shelby County Schools teacher was arraigned today in Criminal Court on two counts of sexual battery by an authority figure stemming from an alleged affair with a 16-year-old student, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.

Midtown Deli to Reopen, Address Nuisance Issues

Jan. 16, 2019 – A Midtown deli closed last week as a public nuisance will be allowed to reopen after agreeing Tuesday to take steps to improve safety and discourage illegal activities on the premises, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.

Driver Indicted in Crash That Killed Passenger

Jan. 3, 2019 – A 21-year-old man has been indicted on reckless vehicular homicide and other charges stemming from a one-vehicle rollover crash in which one of his passengers was killed and two others were critically injured, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
