The Shelby County District Attorney General’s Office is using selected Prosecutorial Performance Indicators (PPIs) to better understand whether case outcomes are applied fairly across racial and ethnic groups. These measures examine trends in areas such as diversion, plea outcomes and dismissed charges.
The data has limitations, including incomplete arrest and referral information and changes in how race and ethnicity were recorded in early 2026. With those limitations in mind, these findings provide an initial baseline for examining equity in prosecutorial outcomes and identifying where additional data is needed.
