Jury Finds Cassell Hunt Jr. Guilty on All Counts for Sexual Offenses Against Children

SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — A Shelby County jury found Cassell Hunt Jr. guilty as charged on all six counts Wednesday following a trial involving the sexual abuse of multiple children.

Hunt was convicted of Rape of a Child, Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, Solicitation of a Minor, Aggravated Sexual Battery, and two counts of Rape.

The offenses occurred in Shelby County between 2019 and 2021 and involved multiple minor victims. Because of the nature of the case and the ages of the victims, the Shelby County District Attorney General’s Office is not releasing their names or additional identifying information.

The trial began Monday in Shelby County Criminal Court. After hearing the evidence presented by prosecutors, the jury deliberated for approximately one hour Wednesday before returning guilty verdicts on all six counts.

Assistant District Attorneys Venecia Patterson and Fredricka Brown prosecuted the case.

Hunt also faces separate pending criminal charges. A sentencing date in this case is forthcoming.
