Man Found Guilty in Murder of Children’s Mother

Shelby County, TN — A Shelby County jury has found Leondre Clark guilty of First Degree Murder and Convicted Felon in Possession of a Handgun for the 2023 shooting death of Toniquia Clark, the mother of his children.

The shooting happened in broad daylight on Carnes Avenue. Police responded to the 3000 block, where they found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds to her upper body. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators identified Clark as the suspect after reviewing surveillance video and locating a red Ford Explorer matching witness accounts. The vehicle was registered to Clark, who was already a convicted felon.

Clark will be sentenced at a later date.
